I think \setupcaption[orientation=90] should work. Did you try different
locations?
But the problem might be your use of \rotation, since \startplacefloat
as well as \setupTABLE have options for rotation.
Try \startplacetable[location=90]

but you can only set it for *all* floats.

Aren’t they supposed to work in \startplacefloat?
How can I suppress the caption? ("none" is supposed to work with \placefloat,
but at least doesn’t in \startplacefloat)
The first argument of \startplacefloat takes the name of the float
.
Aren’t they supposed to work in \startplacefloat?
How can I suppress the caption? ("none" is supposed to work with \placefloat,

With or without framed, vbox and lines didn’t change much. (Of course \framed
adds a frame, but the text is

You are, unfortunately, right about the problem. Alan Braslau brought up
the same issue a while back ([NTG-context] \startplacefloat

Thanks, Aditya. That is a great help!

Massi,
Whether or not you need \startplacefloat
ts), nor can they take
\startcolumns \stopcolumns, and I am sure that there are others.
Does anyone have suggestions/ideas around these kinds of issues? Should
a float with location=force be treated any differently?
Another annoying issue with floats: \startplacefloat\stopplacefloat

Hello,
When placing floats, location=bottom will attempt to place the float at
the bottom of the current page; if it will not fit, then it will be
placed at the *top* of the following page. How can one specify that
the float is be placed at the *bottom* of the subsequent page if there
